Accessibility

Entry
As you enter the Rechabite on the ground floor, there are two 20cm steps through a pair of big, wide doors. There is a wheelchair accessible entry via William Street in the alcove to the left of the main entry which you can ask the usher to show you. If you want, the usher can also show you the lift which is to the left of the main entry and the accessible entry. The lift dimensions are 1.26m(D) x 1.41m(W) x 2.17m(H). The lift goes to all four levels of the building: the basement (where the toilets are), the ground floor (entry), the main hall (gig space) and the rooftop (where the smoking ceremony is). If you don’t use the lift, you can access all levels of the venue using stairs.

Bathrooms
Unisex accessible bathrooms can be found on the basement level and are accessible via lift and stairs.

Atmosphere
The event is outdoors and well-ventilated. Alcohol will be present, served at the bar. Food can be ordered downstairs at the restaurant. The smoking ceremony involves fragrant smoke which will be quite present through the venue when it is underway. The music will be relatively relaxed, but may occasionally be loud or stimulating. The event may feel a tad crowded. Free earplugs and N95 masks will be available from the Tone List team.

The Audible Edge Festival has a dedicated accessibility budget. Please be in touch if you'd like to use this to help experience this event fully.

Details

In another festival first, we are very privileged to host a smoking ceremony for all Audible Edge artists and audiences. Facilitated by Ingrid Cumming, we will join in a moment connecting spirit, earth and sky and listening to boodja.

Following the ceremony, Josten and Annika will share some reflections on the 2025 program, including some tips and tricks for getting into the magic of the weekend.

To hold space throughout the night, we’re stoked to have a one-night-only DJ collaboration between Naarm-based saxophonist Flora Carbo and resident jazz big-brain Cash Promise. They’ll be selecting weird improvised music and other left-field picks before and after the ceremony.
