Accessibility

This event takes place on the beach, and on an adjacent patch of grass. An accessible walkway is immediately next to both spots and the performance can be listened to from here. The music will be acoustic, and will generally be quiet. The whole event takes place outside; it may be hot, sunny or windy. Free food & coffee will be available, as well as drinking water.

We're presently confirming the booking of an adjacent venue with accessible bathrooms. We'll update this page as soon as that's confirmed. Otherwise, the nearest public accessible bathroom is 500m up the hill on the footpath, or 900m down the road on even terrain.

The venue for the following show (Goolugatup Heathcote) is reachable via an accessible walkway, which is a 500m walk around the point on an inclined walkway with a railing, or up a steep flight of stairs next to the scout hall. Tone List can book a taxi between venues for patrons who need it: please get in touch to make a request.

Details

Audible Edge goes (gently) wild with a performance at the river’s edge and, at times, in the river.

Nakal Nakal are an improvising duo that rides on 15 years of friendship, their long-standing connections to Javanese and Japanese culture and a love for mischief. In and out of their musicking, they delight in chaos, dancing, and the thrill of feeling possessed by unseen forces. Their music employs tubes of all kinds, including saxophones, sulings, anklungs, clarinets, and straight up tubes.

Lara Dorling presents one of her affecting solo dance performances, using microphones and pedals to amplify and loop fragments of her whispers, improvised poetry and songs. Stunning, delicate and strange.

At the top of it all is Sabine Vogel, one of the world’s most esteemed flute improvisers, with a keen focus on playing in (and as) place. Using a range of percussion and flutes including custom-made ceramic instruments, Sabine will weave her sounds into those of the birds, wind and waves - sometimes doing so literally by playing with her body and instruments immersed in the Derbarl Yerrigan.

We encourage bringing bathers and a towel if you want to listen from in the river. This is highly recommended, though please note that we only have on-site showers suitable for washing your feet and lower legs, so don’t go in too deep if you don’t want to be too swampy at the club later.
