Accessibility
Goolugatup Heathcote is wheelchair accessible and has ACROD parking bays with access to the space via footpaths and ramps. The music will be amplified and, while not particularly loud, will have moments that are rapid, stimulating or repetitive. The show is likely to be crowded, but the outdoor space has plenty of room to physically distance, and plenty of room to find a quiet space if you need it. Alcohol will be served at a pop-up bar in the venue, and food will be available. There is no dedicated low-sensory space in the venue.

Details
We’re terrifically excited to co-present another edition of beloved series Goolugatup Sounds as part of Audible Edge, as part of what's become an annual tradition.
Silvia Tarozzi & Deborah Walker return to present Canti di guerra, di lavoro e d’amore, a jaw-droppingly beautiful song cycle assembled by the duo. Together they reinterpret songs from their home of Emilia, Italy that emerged from the emancipation of working class women and the partisan Resistance in World War II. The songs, sung by female rice field workers (Mondine or Mondariso) tell stories of hard, poorly paid work, love, the hypocrisy of society, protests, war, the challenge of working far from home, and the violence of oppression. Sung by the duo and accompanied by their effortlessly brilliant violin & cello, you might need a friend’s shoulder or a tissue for this one.
Tetuzi Akiyama is an improvising guitarist from Tokyo. Partaking in the activities at Off Site which birthed the radical movement in Japanese improvisation known globally as Onkyo, he has lived a life of prolific improvisation, accessing all registers of intensity through his guitar “in an attempt to convert the body into an electronic entity”. He has collaborated for many years with Craig Pedersen, a Boorloo-based trumpeter with history working with Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Pauline Oliveros, Keiji Haino, Manfred Werder and myriad others. Audible Edge proudly brings their duo to this continent for the first time, giving them the space to explore radical song forms in their duo.
At the top is Troth, whose music blurs lines between minimal synth-pop, immersive ambient soundscapes and field recording based sound art. Key themes across their work are interpreting time spent in natural environments, attempting to engender beauty via tapping into elements of ritual and finding new modes to express dialogue with each other.
Goolugatup runs a bar, and Faux Sho will be selling vegan pizzas all night (gluten free non-pizza options available). You can also bring a picnic.
A wheelchair-accessible (but frankly highly stimulating) party bus will run from Goolugatup to the next event at Goodwill Club. You need to book a ticket to partake (much cheaper than a taxi, and more fun).
