Accessibility

Entry

As you enter the Rechabite on the ground floor, there are two 20cm steps through a pair of big, wide doors. There is a wheelchair accessible entry via William Street in the alcove to the left of the main entry which you can ask the usher to show you. If you want, the usher can also show you the lift which is to the left of the main entry and the accessible entry. The lift dimensions are 1.26m(D) x 1.41m(W) x 2.17m(H). The lift goes to all four levels of the building: the basement (where both the event and the toilets are located), the ground floor (entry), the Hall, and the rooftop bar Hello. If you don’t use the lift, you can access all levels of the venue using stairs.

Atmosphere

There will be seating available inside the venue. No strobes will be used, but lighting will be at times very dim and at times very brightly colored and undulating. A haze machine will be used inside the venue. The music will be very loud and move between being intense and repetitive, and atmospheric. Alcohol will be served at the venue. Free earplugs and N95 masks will be available.

A 'party aunty' will be on staff: someone who will be roving in high-vis and available to help and chat as needed. The party aunty will be carrying painkillers, masks, earplugs, lip balm, snacks, fruit, water bottles, electrolytes and hand sanitizer which you're welcome to.

There will be another event in the Main Hall that is not related to Audible Edge. The hallways are likely to be very busy and there may be lines to use the toilets. All levels of the venue will likely be loud and stimulating. You can get fresh air on the rooftop or in the small outdoor area on William Street — just exit through the main entry and go directly forwards where you’ll find benches and stools.

Details

Curated with Lia T, AE Club is a late night dance music experience teetering off the edges of the traditional club space into an adventurous, curious and invitational place of connection with our bodies, ourselves and each other. We’re excited to welcome two east-coast legends to the booth for hybrid DJ/live sets, in good company with two Boorloo dance-music icons going b2b.

Melodramatic DJ retiree Anuraag returns to the stage in a new variant. After a dissatisfaction with the DJ supremacy meta culminated in them writing an essay about giving up DJing and tossing their USB sticks into the inferno, they’ve recently turned to a hybrid practice using CDJs, a computer, and allegedly some hand drums. Feeling excited by DJing again, Audible Edge is the first stop on a slowburn comeback tour, playing improvisational, freeform, hypnotic and sometimes cheeky music.

Vanessa Worm is an experimental electronic artist and producer from New Zealand, known for her raw, genre-defying sound that blends elements of techno, post-punk, and leftfield dance music. Emerging from the underground scene, she gained recognition with releases on Optimo Music, showcasing a unique approach to rhythm, vocals, and sonic textures. Celebrating her first ever performance in Boorloo, you can expect an unpredictable and visceral live presence that is both hypnotic and cathartic.

Closing out the evening we welcome the much-loved b2b (bestie2bestie) duo Yikes & Nafta, co-hosts of RTRFM’s Friday Full Frequency slot. Nafta's rich musical journey traverses the many wide and winding roads driven by Black contribution to and innovations in music and culture throughout history. Yikes has a finger in all the pies, working as an artist, designer, DJ, promoter, and producer deeply attuned to the Boorloo scene. Their sets take you on a journey forward in time to the outer reaches of the black diaspora, and the inner spheres of your musical mind.
