Luci Young (she/her) is an emerging dance artist from Boorloo (Perth). She completed her Advanced Diploma of Elite Performance in 2022 as part of Sydney Dance Company’s 2 Pre-Professional Program and is currently completing her Bachelor of Dance at WAAPA. Luci made her professional debut in 2018 in Co:3 Australia’s production ‘Frank Enstein’ and was awarded the Performing Arts Award of Western Australia’s Best Newcomer for her performance. She has since continued to work with notable companies Co:3 Australia, Strut Dance, GUTS Dance and The West Australian Opera.

In 2024 Luci was supported by The Department of Local Government for Sports and Culture to travel to India and immerse herself in collaboration. In Bangalore, she worked with seven international female artists to create ‘Rage is Yellow’ in residence at Courtyard Koota.

Luci is constantly falling in and out of love with the temporality and embodied nature of dance performance. She has recently begun repurposing textile waste to create visual statements towards climate that stand as a lasting reflection of her practice. In combining these two elements she is seeking to broaden the spaces where conversations can be started and build communities that can support progressive action in queering, challenging and redefining the structures that we live as part of.
