Details
Take Friday morning off and join us for a solo set by Mexican improviser Emilio Gordoa. Based in Berlin since 2012, Emilio is a fixture of the city’s renowned Echtzeitmusik scene of sharp-minded underground sound-shapers, but also a regular contributor to the Mexican scene. Using transducers to feed electronic sounds directly into the skin of a snare drum, Emilio has developed a novel electro-acoustic instrument with no speakers involved. The addition of contact microphones creates feedback, which leads to undulating, shifting drones coming out and through the drum. He combines this with refined acoustic percussion sounds from (literally) bells and whistles, gongs, lightbulbs and more.
Emilio will play a solo out on the patio of Local and Aesthetic: ostensibly the Audible Edge “office”, and one of our festival sponsors. So in short: rigorous improvisation, weird sounds, coffee, delicious breakfast, lovely friends, see you there!
